I have been asked so I will answer.. the tips I have for vacationing with triplets (all applicable to baby stage or at least about 10 months) .. hopefully things will change!
1. Be prepared to change your mentality.. it is a "trip" not a "vacation" If you want a vacation.. do not bring the babies :). That being said, embrace it as an experience of new and fun things for everybody
2. Make sure your husband knows this prior to the trip... however even then he may not "really" get it until after the trip
3. Never thought I would have to do this, but you need to pack at least a week in advance and you need to use a list. you will also need to spend a lot of your last vacation day preparing for the travel day
4. have at least as many adults as you do babies, we brought Grace (our Mary Poppins in the making) and she was absolutely amazing. Plus we had a couple other friends/family that were there on some of the days
5. Get where you are going with the quickest mode of transportation possible.
6. Do NOT and I repeat do NOT think you are going to return home well rested! :)
7. Expect it to take 3 days for them to adjust to their surroundings in regards to sleep
8. Have the babies practice sleepng in the pack in play before you go
9. Try and get pre-board passes even though you are supposed to to be "disabled" .. quite frankly traveling with triplets does disable you to some degree. Nashville airport agreed.. PCB airport.. not so much
10. Look for very nice and/or younger people to sit next to on the plane.. you will no longer be afraid to hand your baby to a stranger. In my case it was tattooed twenty something year old that I said.. "it is never too early to get some practice" (He actually offered to hold a baby.. probably because I had a diaper bag, a baby in my arms and another baby in a baby carrier that I was trying to get into one of those tiny little rows.)
11. Don't be offended when the poor soul that has to sit with you orders a "double" drink
12. Have at least 2-3 days to recover from your "vacation"13. Send your husband ahead with the "equiptment truck/van" to your destination and have him unload the car before you get there so you won't be tripping over babies while you are unpacking We actually had a really great time at the beach!! We got some great pictures and will post them soon (that's Rhett's job :)
